NCT07805772

Brief Summary

This interventional study aims to investigate the acute effects of three different exercise modalities-aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT)-on irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels in sedentary women. A total of 20 sedentary women will participate in the study. Hormonal responses will be evaluated in relation to the exercise sessions to determine exercise-induced changes in irisin, leptin, and ghrelin and to compare the responses associated with the three exercise modalities.

Outcome Measures

Primary Outcomes (3)

  • Change in Irisin Level

Irisin levels will be assessed in relation to each exercise condition to determine the change in circulating irisin levels associated with aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT)

Pre-exercise and immediately post-exercise during each exercise session

  • Change in Leptin Level

Leptin levels will be assessed in relation to each exercise condition to determine the change in circulating leptin levels associated with aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

Pre-exercise and immediately post-exercise during each exercise session

  • Change in Ghrelin Level

Ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to each exercise condition to determine the change in circulating ghrelin levels associated with aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

Pre-exercise and immediately post-exercise during each exercise session

Study Arms (1)

Multiple Exercise Modalities

EXPERIMENTAL

Participants in this arm will complete three different exercise conditions in separate sessions: aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to each exercise condition to evaluate and compare acute hormonal responses across the three exercise modalities.

Behavioral: Aerobic ExerciseBehavioral: Anaerobic ExerciseBehavioral: High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

Interventions

Participants will complete an aerobic exercise session as one of the three exercise conditions. Irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to the exercise session to determine the acute hormonal response to aerobic exercise.

Multiple Exercise Modalities

Participants will complete an anaerobic exercise session as one of the three exercise conditions. Irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to the exercise session to determine the acute hormonal response to anaerobic exercise.

Multiple Exercise Modalities

Participants will complete a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) session as one of the three exercise conditions. Irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to the exercise session to determine the acute hormonal response to HIIT.

Intervention Model
SINGLE GROUP
Model Details: All participants will complete three exercise conditions-aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT)-in separate sessions. Each participant will therefore serve as her own control, allowing within-participant comparisons of irisin, leptin, and ghrelin responses across the three exercise modalities.
