Brief Summary
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of a web-based escape room (EQUITY-ROOM) and a web-based branching scenario (EQUITY-PATH) simulation added to standardized video-based education on nursing students' gender perception, dating violence myths, and dating violence attitudes. The study is designed as a 3-arm pretest-posttest parallel randomized controlled trial. Participants (3rd-year nursing students, N=72) will be randomly allocated to three groups in a 1:1:1 ratio:
- 1.EQUITY-ROOM Group: Standardized video-based education + Web-based Escape Room Game
- 2.EQUITY-PATH Group: Standardized video-based education + Web-based Branching Scenario GameActive
- 3.Control Group: Standardized video-based education onlyPrimary outcome is attitudes toward dating violence, while gender perception and dating violence myths serve as secondary outcomes. Outcome measures will be evaluated before the intervention (pretest) and one week after the intervention (posttest).

Outcome Measures
Primary Outcomes (1)
Change from Baseline in Dating Violence Attitudes at 1 Week Post-Intervention
Measured using the Dating Violence Attitude Scale (DVAS / Flört Şiddeti Tutum Ölçeği). The scale consists of 28 items rated on a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree). Total average scores range from 1 to 5, where higher scores indicate more positive attitudes non-supportive of dating violence.
Baseline (pre-test) and 1 week post-intervention (post-test)
Secondary Outcomes (2)
Change from Baseline in Gender Perception at 1 Week Post-Intervention
Baseline (pre-test) and 1 week post-intervention (post-test)
Change from Baseline in Dating Violence Myths at 1 Week Post-Intervention
Baseline (pre-test) and 1 week post-intervention (post-test)
Study Arms (3)
EQUITY-ROOM Group
EXPERIMENTALParticipants receive standardized video-based education plus a web-based escape room game (EQUITY-ROOM).
EQUITY-PATH Group
EXPERIMENTALParticipants receive standardized video-based education plus a web-based branching scenario simulation (EQUITY-PATH).
Active Control Group
ACTIVE COMPARATORParticipants receive standardized video-based education only, without additional game-based simulation.
Interventions
A 4-stage digital escape room game focusing on gender perception, dating violence myths, and attitudes, completed in teams.
A standardized educational video covering gender equality, types of violence, dating violence dynamics, institutional support mechanisms, and common myths.
An individual interactive simulation consisting of 10 scenarios with critical decision nodes and immediate feedback regarding dating violence.
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if:
- Being voluntary to participate in the study
- Being a 3rd-year undergraduate nursing student
- Having basic computer/smart device literacy and access sufficient to engage with the digital materials (EQUITY-ROOM and EQUITY-PATH)
You may not qualify if:
- Prior participation in a similar digital escape room, branching scenario simulation, or structured intervention program (education, course, workshop, etc.) focused on gender perception or dating violence
