Brief Summary

This study is a single-group quasi-experimental study designed to evaluate a structured port catheter training program for nurses. The intervention consists of theoretical instruction and practical demonstration on port catheter care and management. Nurses will participate in the training program and undergo assessments at predefined time points before and after the intervention to evaluate changes in knowledge related to port catheter care.

Outcome Measures

Primary Outcomes (1)

  • Changes in nurses' knowledge levels

    Knowledge score measured using a structured Port Catheter Care Knowledge Test consisting of 32 items. Total scores range from 0 to 32, with higher scores indicating higher knowledge levels.

    Before training, immediately after training, and 30 days after training

Nurse Training Group

EXPERIMENTAL

Nurses receiving port catheter care training. Pre-test, post-test, and one-month follow-up knowledge assessments were conducted to evaluate training effectiveness.

Behavioral: Port Catheter Care Training

Interventions

This educational intervention aims to improve nurses' knowledge and skills in port catheter care. The training includes theoretical and practical sessions on port catheter insertion, maintenance, and nursing responsibilities. Participants complete a pre-test, a post-test, and a one-month follow-up test to evaluate knowledge retention and training effectiveness.

You may qualify if:

  • Nurses working in the internal medicine and oncology units of a Training and Research Hospital,
  • years of age and older,
  • Actively involved in care processes related to port catheterization,
  • Voluntarily agreeing to participate in the research,
  • Participating in the entire training program and completing all evaluation stages (pre-test, post-test, 30-day evaluation).

You may not qualify if:

  • Nurses who were unable to participate in the research due to leave, sick leave, or temporary assignments,
  • Nurses who did not attend the entire training program or who failed to complete any assessment phase (pre-test, post-test, 30-day assessment),
  • Nurses working in units not directly related to port catheterization.
