Actual (reported)Background and Objective: Malnutrition is a common and serious health concern for older adults in the hospital. This study aims to understand how often malnutrition occurs in elderly inpatients and to look at the different factors that may be related to it. The goal is to help doctors better identify and care for older patients who are at risk of malnutrition. Methods: This study will look at older adults (aged 60 years and older) who are staying in the hospital. Participants will be assessed for their nutritional status using standard nutritional screening tools. The study will also collect general health information, such as age, body measurements, blood test results, and existing medical conditions. Researchers will then analyze this information to see which factors are most closely linked to the nutritional health of these patients.

Actual (reported)Prevalence of GLIM-defined malnutrition
The proportion of hospitalized older adults diagnosed with malnutrition based on the GLIM criteria.
2020.10-2020.12
Comparison of clinical and nutritional indicators
To compare differences in body composition (e.g., handgrip strength, BMI) and biochemical indicators (e.g., lymphocyte percentage, serum albumin) among patients with different nutritional statuses.

Well-nourished Group
The study population comprised hospitalized patients aged 60 years or older who were admitted to the Department of Clinical Nutrition, First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University between October 2020and December 2020 Patients were consecutively enrolled if they met the following criteria: age ≥60 years, hospitalization duration ≥48 hours, and complete clinical data. Patients with severe cognitive impairment, acute critical illness, or incomplete data were excluded. All participants were assessed using the GLIM criteria for malnutrition diagnosis and NRS2002 for nutritional risk screening.
