Brief Summary
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is increasingly recognized to persist into adulthood, often impacting academic performance in university and professional education. This relationship may be further complicated by co-occurring mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety. The purpose of this cross-sectional study is to determine the prevalence of adult ADHD symptoms, depressive symptoms, and anxiety symptoms among undergraduate medical students at Assiut University. The study also aims to evaluate how these psychiatric symptoms are associated with academic performance. Participants will complete a series of self-administered questionnaires, including the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS v1.1), the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) for depression, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) scale for anxiety, a socioeconomic status scale, and demographic/academic information including cumulative grade point average (GPA).

Outcome Measures
Primary Outcomes (1)
Percentage of Participants Screening Positive for Adult ADHD Symptoms
Assessed using the 6-item Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS v1.1) Arabic version. The scale evaluates the frequency of inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity symptoms over the preceding 6 months. Each item is rated on a 5-point scale (never, rarely, sometimes, often, very often). A positive screen is defined by meeting the established clinical cutoff threshold (responses falling within shaded/clinically significant boxes), indicating a high likelihood of adult ADHD symptoms.
