Brief Summary

analyze the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors in patients with meningitis at Sohag Governorate .This is an ambidirectional (retrospective and prospective), hospital-based observational study. The study involves a retrospective review of patient records over the past 3 years, combined with a prospective recruitment of new patients for one year from the initiation of the study

Primary Outcomes (1)

  • All-cause in-hospital mortality

    Death from any cause occurring during hospitalization, reported as the number and percentage of participants who died during hospital admission.

    From hospital admission until hospital discharge, up to 30 days.

Secondary Outcomes (3)

  • Recovery without neurological sequelae at hospital discharge

    From hospital admission until hospital discharge, up to 30 days.

  • Neurological sequelae at hospital discharge

    From hospital admission until hospital discharge, up to 30 days.

  • In-hospital complications

    From hospital admission until hospital discharge, up to 30 days.

Study Population

All patients diagnosed with meningitis and admitted to Sohag Fever Hospital during the study period, regardless of age or sex, who meet the study eligibility criteria.

You may qualify if:

  • All patients diagnosed with meningitis admitted to Sohag Fever Hospital during the study period.
  • Patients of all age groups and both sexes.
  • Patients with confirmed diagnosis based on clinical features and CSF analysis.

You may not qualify if:

  • Patients with incomplete medical records.
  • Patients with uncertain diagnosis of meningitis.
  • Patients discharged against medical advice before completion of evaluation.
