Study Arms (2)
Intervention
EXPERIMENTALProviders in this arm will receive a communication coaching intervention immediately post-randomization.
Waitlist Control
OTHERProviders assigned to this arm will be offered the option of receiving the communication coaching intervention after follow up data collection is complete.
Interventions
Study coaches will conduct tailored individual sessions with participating providers to teach and improve communication techniques. Coaches will then shadow or audio-record patient encounters and deliver feedback to providers on their communication during these encounters.
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if:
- Providers and patients at Duke University Medical Center
You may not qualify if:
- Younger than 18
- non-English speaking
