Brief Summary
This observational study aims to examine the relationship between performance-based balance test results and quality of life in individuals with Parkinson's disease. It also seeks to determine which balance test best explains quality of life in this population. Balance and functional performance will be assessed using the Six Spot Step Test, 30-Second Chair Stand Test, Timed Up and Go Test, Four Square Step Test, Berg Balance Scale, and 3-Meter Backward Walk Test. Quality of life will be evaluated using the 39-item Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39). The findings may help clinicians select appropriate assessment methods and develop rehabilitation programs that address the factors associated with quality of life in individuals with Parkinson's disease.

Outcome Measures
Primary Outcomes (1)
Health-Related Quality of Life Assessed by the PDQ-39
Health-related quality of life in individuals with Parkinson's disease will be assessed using the 39-item Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39). The PDQ-39 Summary Index ranges from 0 to 100, with higher scores indicating poorer health-related quality of life.
During the single assessment session (approximately 25 minutes)
Study Arms (2)
Parkinson's Disease Group
Individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease who underwent assessments of balance, functional performance, fear of falling, disease severity, depressive symptoms, and quality of life. No intervention was administered as part of this observational study.
Healthy Control Group
Age- and sex-matched healthy individuals without a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease who underwent balance and functional performance assessments. No intervention was administered as part of this observational study.
Eligibility Criteria
The study population will consist of individuals diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease who are followed at the Neurology Department of Pamukkale University Hospital and age- and sex-matched healthy individuals recruited from the same geographical region in Denizli, Türkiye.
You may qualify if:
- Willing to participate in the study and providing written informed consent
- Having a diagnosis of idiopathic Parkinson's disease
- Being 20 years of age or older
- Being classified as stage 1-3 according to the Modified Hoehn and Yahr Scale
- Being in the "on" medication state and undergoing assessment one hour after taking antiparkinsonian medication
You may not qualify if:
