Brief Summary

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn how children with myopia aged 8 to 15 years move their eyes and heads during near-vision tasks while wearing different spectacle lenses, and if wearing myopia control spectacle lenses for one month is related to change in eye length (axial length). The main questions it aims to answer are:

  • Attend three study visits at the Singapore Polytechnic Optometry Centre.
  • Wear the assigned study spectacles while performing near-vision tasks.
  • Have video recordings of their face collected, to evaluate eye and head movements, during the near-vision tasks.

  • Change in eye gaze position

    Eye gaze positions are derived from post-processed video recordings of participants performing near-vision tasks while wearing the study spectacles.

Study Arms (1)

Sequential Lens Evaluation

EXPERIMENTAL

Single-arm, within-subject design; Each participant received both Single Vision Lens (SVL) and Myopia Control Lens (MCL) spectacles.

Device: Single Vision Lens (SVL)Device: Myopia Control Lens (MCL)

Interventions

Standard, commercially available single vision spectacle lenses worn on-site during near vision task assessment at Visit 2 and Visit 3.

Sequential Lens Evaluation

Commercially available Stellest® spectacle lenses worn on-site during near vision task assessment at Visit 2 and Visit 3, and worn continuously for approximately 1 month between Visit 2 and Visit 3.

Age8 Years - 15 Years

Healthy VolunteersNo
Age GroupsChild (0-17)

You may qualify if:

  • Between 8 and 15 years of age
  • No amblyopia
  • No tropia
  • No known/reported ocular pathology
  • Myopes with spherical equivalent refraction of -0.50 D to -6.00 D
  • Astigmatism of less than -4.00 D
  • Anisometropia of less than -1.50D
  • Best corrected monocular VA better than 0.10 logMAR in both eyes
  • Able to follow the protocol
  • Wearing habitual correction

You may not qualify if:

  • Currently or previously on any myopia control interventions (I.e., Myopia control spectacle lenses, myopia control contact lenses, orthokeratology lenses or atropine, etc.)
  • Myopes who do not have a pair of habitual glasses
