Brief Summary
This study evaluates whether adding breathing exercises to standard physical therapy helps improve lung function and overall well-being in people with cervical discopathy (neck problems). Participants diagnosed with cervical discopathy will be divided into two groups. One group will receive 15 sessions of standard physical therapy, which includes Ultrasound, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), infrared therapy, and neck exercises. The second group will receive the exact same standard physical therapy, but with an added specific breathing exercise program for 15 sessions. Researchers will measure the patients' breathing capacity, neck pain levels, and psychological well-being before the treatments start and right after the 15-session program ends to see if the added breathing exercises provide extra benefits.

Outcome Measures
Primary Outcomes (1)
Change in Pulmonary Function Tests (FVC and FEV1)
Pulmonary function was evaluated using spirometry. The key parameters measured were Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) and Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 second (FEV1), reported in liters (L) and as a percentage of the predicted value (%). Higher values indicate better pulmonary function (a better clinical outcome).
Baseline and at 3 weeks
Secondary Outcomes (2)
Change in Neck Pain Severity
Baseline and at 3 weeks
Change in Neck-Specific Disability and Psychosocial Well-Being
Baseline and at 3 weeks
Study Arms (2)
Conventional Physiotherapy
ACTIVE COMPARATORParticipants receive 15 sessions of conventional physiotherapy, which includes Ultrasound, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), infrared therapy, and isometric neck exercises.
Physiotherapy and Breathing Exercises
EXPERIMENTALParticipants receive a respiratory exercise program in addition to the 15 sessions of conventional physiotherapy (Ultrasound, TENS, infrared therapy, and isometric neck exercises).
Interventions
A 15-session protocol consisting of Ultrasound, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), infrared therapy, and isometric neck exercises.
A targeted respiratory exercise program added to the conventional physiotherapy, aimed at improving the function, strength, and endurance of the respiratory muscles over 15 sessions.
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if:
- Patients admitted to the physiotherapy and rehabilitation department.
- Patients diagnosed with cervical discopathy.
You may not qualify if:
- Patients with previously known respiratory system disorders.
- Patients with a disease affecting the thorax.
