Brief Summary

Aim of the study is to examine the impact of a history of hamstring injury on athletes by determining and comparing the pre- and post-training levels of sprint performance, agility, dynamic balance, and body awareness in football players with and without a history of hamstring injury.

Outcome Measures

Primary Outcomes (4)

  • Sprint Performance (10-meter and 30-meter Sprint Tests)

    To evaluate the acceleration and maximum sprint performance of the football players, 10-meter and 30-meter sprint tests will be conducted. The 10-meter sprint test will be used to assess acceleration and explosive power capacity over short distances. Participants will stand in a semi-prone position behind the starting line and will begin a 10-meter run at maximum speed upon receiving the starting command. The time will be recorded in seconds. The 30-meter sprint test will be used to evaluate maximum running speed, sprint performance, and anaerobic capacity. Similarly, participants will begin a 30-meter run at maximum speed upon receiving the starting command. The time will be recorded in seconds.

    Before and immediately after training

  • T-Test of Agility

    This test will be administered to assess participants' agility, speed of change of direction, coordination, and reaction capacity. The test course is arranged in a 'T' shape using cones, with 10 meters forward from the starting point and 5 meters to the right and left. Participant runs forward from the starting point to the midpoint, then moves sideways to the right and left as quickly but steadily as possible, and finally runs back to the starting point. The test duration is recorded in seconds using a stopwatch. Shorter test times indicate a higher level of agility and neuromuscular control.

  • Y Balance Test

    The YBT requires the athlete to balance on one leg whilst simultaneously reaching as far as possible with the other leg in three separate directions: anterior, posterolateral, and posteromedial. Therefore, this test measures the athlete's strength, stability and balance in various directions. The YBT composite score is calculated by summing the three reach directions and normalising the results to the lower limb length.

  • Body Awareness Questionnaire (BAQ)

    BAQ is an 18-item self-report scale designed to measure how attentive you are to normal, non-emotional internal bodily processes. It evaluates your sensitivity to everyday bodily cycles (like sleep and hunger), ability to detect subtle changes, and capacity to anticipate physical reactions. Typically takes about 3 to 5 minutes. Items are generally rated on a 1 to 7 scale, with higher total scores indicating greater perceived conKdence and accuracy in monitoring your physical state over time.

Study Population

Licensed Football Players Aged 18-35 with and without a History of Hamstring Injury

You may qualify if:

  • Being a licensed male football player aged 18-35.
  • Having played football actively for at least 2 years.
  • Having attended training sessions regularly within the last 6 months.
  • Having a history of hamstring injury (n=25).
  • Not having a history of hamstring injury (n=25).
  • Voluntarily agreeing to participate in the study.

You may not qualify if:

  • Having a current history of a diagnosed musculoskeletal injury in the lower extremities.
  • Having undergone lower extremity surgery within the last 6 months.
  • Having a diagnosis of any neurological, orthopedic, or systemic disorder.
  • Having a diagnosis of any systemic disease affecting balance.
  • Having any significant physical limitations that would prevent the application of the tests.
  • Having a diagnosed psychological disorder that would hinder communication.
