Outcome Measures

Primary Outcomes (1)

  • Incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) associated with sepsis and related clinical risk factors.

    Detection of clinical risk factors including sepsis, septic shock, pre-existing comorbidities, mechanical ventilation, and use of inotropes among hospitalized patients.

Clinical and laboratory assessmentOTHER

Clinical history taking, physical examination including daily fluid intake and urine output monitoring, laboratory investigations (CBC, renal function tests, electrolytes, ESR, urine analysis and culture, 24-hour urinary protein, serum proteins, ASO titer, C3 and C4), and renal ultrasonography.

Study Population

acute kidney injury in pediatrics from 1 month to 18years

You may qualify if:

  • All cases of acute kidney injury in pediatrics from 1 month to 18years who admitted to PICU Assiut University Children Hospital according to (KDIGO) AKI Staging criteria during the duration of the study.

You may not qualify if:

  • Neonates
  • patients above 18 years of age
  • patients with chronic kidney disease
  • patients with renal malformations
