Brief Summary
This study aims to evaluate the practical and research utility of a new test assessing language and memory in people with MS. To this end, we are administering the test to a group of 100 individuals with MS who are receiving treatment at the National MS Center Melsbroek. These data will allow us to determine whether scores on the new test correlate with those of established cognitive tests. Subsequently, we will administer the new test to 100 individuals without an MS diagnosis who are matched for age, gender, and education level. This will enable us to assess whether there are significant differences in scores between individuals with MS and those without the diagnosis. One year later, we will re-administer the tests to the participants with MS to determine the extent to which changes in scores on the new test correspond to changes in scores on established tests.

Outcome Measures
Primary Outcomes (1)
Language and Memory Test (LMT)
The LMT is a brief multidomain test assessing finger tapping speed, rapid lexical access, and visuospatial memory, designed for MS populations.
Baseline, after one week and and after one year
Other Outcomes (2)
Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT)
Baseline and after one year
Cognitive Change Scale (CCS)
Baseline and after one year
Study Arms (2)
Adults diagnosed with multiple sclerosis
Treated in a the National MS Center rehabilitation center
Adults without MS diagnosis
matched for age, gender and educational level
Eligibility Criteria
Adult people diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (PwMS), treated in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation program in the National Multiple Sclerosis Center (NMSC) Belgium. Healthy (no MS diagnosis) adults matched for age, gender and education
You may qualify if:
- Native Dutch speaking
- Sufficient visual function (capacity to perceive test stimuli)
- Minimal single hand function to execute test responses
- Cognitive capacity to apprehend test instructions
You may not qualify if:
- Insufficient visual function (capacity to perceive test stimuli)
- Inability to perform single-hand motor movements required to complete the test (e.g., tapping, selecting responses)
- Insufficient cognitive capacity to understand or follow test instructions
- For PwMS:
- \- MS relapse more recently than three months
