Outcome Measures
Primary Outcomes (1)
Berg Balance Scale (BBS)
The Berg Balance Scale (BBS) is a widely recognized clinical tool used to measure balance performance in individuals with neurological conditions, including chronic stroke. It consists of 14 functional tasks, such as standing up from a sitting position, reaching forward, and standing on one foot. Each item is scored on a 5-point scale (0-4), with a maximum total score of 56. A lower score indicates a higher risk of falling. The BBS is both valid and reliable for assessing balance deficits in stroke survivors and is sensitive to change over time, making it suitable for evaluating intervention outcomes.

Study Arms (2)
Tai Chi
EXPERIMENTALDual Task Balance Training
EXPERIMENTALInterventions
Participants will receive a classical 24-form Yang-style Tai Chi program. Sessions will be approximately 60 minutes, three times per week for 12 weeks. Each session will include a 5-10-minute warm-up, 40 minutes of Tai Chi practice, and a 5-10-minute cool-down/relaxation period. The program will emphasize controlled movements, weight shifting, postural alignment, balance, coordination, relaxation, and natural breathing.
Participants will receive Dual Task Balance Training consisting of supervised 60-minute sessions, three times per week for 12 weeks. Each session will include a 10-minute warm-up, 40 minutes of progressive balance training combined with cognitive or motor dual tasks, and a 10-minute relaxation period. Exercises will target proprioception, strengthening, postural sway, and reaction time, with progressive increases in difficulty according to participants' abilities.
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if:
- Aged 45 to 75 years.
- Both male and female patients were included.
- Stroke patients confirmed by CT or MRI.
- First onset of stroke more than 3 months prior.
- Balance dysfunction caused by than other Encephalopathies.
- Ability to walk more than 6 m independently or assisted
- Consciousness and stable vital signs.
- Mini-Balance Evaluation System Test score ≤25.
You may not qualify if:
- Having neurological conditions other than stroke e.g Multiple sclerosis.
