Primary Outcomes (1)
Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39)
Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) is a commonly used 39-item scale to measure Helath related quality of life for patients with Parkinson's disease.The PDQ-39 ranges from 0 (lowest score, best quality of life) to 100 (highest score, worst quality of life). Higher the score, the worse outcome.

ACTIVE COMPARATOR24 weeks of hula

Interventions
one hour/week hula class tailored to Parkinson's
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if:
- Primary diagnosis of idiopathic PD confirmed by a movement disorder specialist.
- ≥ 18 years of age
- Ability to provide informed consent
- Ability to participate in an in-person 24-week hula program.
- Ability to complete all 3 balance tests (4SST, FTSTS, Quantitative Romberg Force Plate Measurement)
You may not qualify if:
- Presence of physical or mental health co-morbid conditions that, in the investigator's opinion, could limit the subject's ability to participate in the clinical trial or to comply with follow-up requirements, or impact the scientific soundness of the clinical trial results.
- Drug or alcohol dependence that might interfere with safe participation, based on opinion of the PI.
- Inability to attend in-person hula classes and study visits at QMC.
- Patients with high fall risk.
- Contraindications for physical activity and/or hula classes specifically.
